Drop-In Lead-Acid Replacement, Measured

The replacement case is arithmetic, not opinion. Lead-acid still holds 81.5% of the RV battery market in 2025, and it delivers 300–500 cycles at 50% usable depth. A 12V 200Ah LiFePO4 drop-in at 41.75 lbs weighs about one-third of the same-capacity lead-acid bank, delivers 95%+ usable depth at 99% coulombic efficiency, and is warrantied for 4,000+ cycles. On a three-battery trolling rig, switching saves 100–125+ lbs of boat weight.

Deep-Cycle, Answered by the Numbers

Will it fit the trays we already build?
Group 24, 27 and 31 footprints are built to the standard outside dimensions so the batteries drop into existing trays and boxes. The one change we document at handover: chargers must switch to a LiFePO4 profile — 14.2–14.6V absorption for 12V systems — because the BMS will refuse charge below 0°C without the self-heating option.
What happens when it freezes?
Standard packs cut off charging below 0°C to protect the cells — the most common lithium failure mode — while discharge continues. Self-heating variants pull a small current from the charger to warm the cells first, enabling safe charging down to -20°C for winter and high-latitude deployments.
Can one battery start an engine and run house loads?
The 100A BMS carries continuous house loads with headroom, and peak discharge for engine starting is quoted per application — dual-purpose marine builds are sized against your cranking requirement before we issue the spec sheet. Dedicated starting banks stay lead-acid-free with a higher-peak variant.
