Light EV Battery OEM Programs, 36–72V
Light electric vehicles are Europe's quiet volume market: 5.1 million e-bikes sold a year, a global e-bike battery market moving from $12.3B in 2025 toward $46.1B by 2035, and a European pack segment compounding at roughly 16% a year. EMS-ESS builds the packs LEV brands and fleet operators source at program volume — 36V to 72V on Samsung and LG 21700 cells, BMS from 20A to 80A, EN 15194 compliance files and a 3–5 year replacement wave already rolling through the 2020–2023 sales cohort.
OEM Reality
The Replacement Wave Is the Business Case
E-bike batteries age out after 3–5 years or 500–1,000 cycles, which means the pandemic-era sales cohort is now arriving at service counters in bulk — Germany alone holds 89 million bicycles on its roads. For brands, that is a second product cycle with no new customer acquisition; for fleet operators it is a procurement line that repeats. Both need packs with traceable cells, matched BMS ratings and certification files that clear EU compliance on arrival.
- Traceable cell supply — Samsung 50G and LG 4800mAh 21700 cells with lot-level capacity and internal-resistance reports, so warranty exposure is priced instead of hoped away.
- BMS matched to the motor — 20/30/45A for city platforms up to 60/80A for 750–1,500W performance drives, with 5–6 protection layers and temperature cutoffs.
- Certification files included — EN 15194 electrical-safety support for the EPAC standard plus IEC 62133-2 under CB scheme and UN 38.3 transport testing on every shipment.
- Service logistics — removable formats compatible with swap-station hardware, and aftermarket packs built to the same firmware as the OEM line.
OEM Platform
36–72V Pack Specification
Four voltage platforms cover the light-electric range from EPAC city bikes to delivery mopeds. LFP chemistry is available where service life outranks weight; NMC 21700 remains the default for range-per-gram.

Pack sampling takes 15–20 working days once the cell, BMS and enclosure spec is signed; annual frame agreements lock cell allocation ahead of peak season, and every pack ships with its UN 38.3 test summary under PI965 or IMDG rules.
Program in Production
From the Field
"48V 20Ah down-tube packs for our city line, Samsung 21700 cells with a 45A BMS. The EN 15194 file support cleared our EU launch without a consultant, and after eighteen months of fleet data the warranty claim rate is running under half a percent."
